I ventured outside my bubble to find a cute little coffee shop/cafe in downtown Mesa, Arizona. It’s attached to The Nile Theater and I’d say it’s definitely worth a visit. The shop is super cute and homey inside and has a small but mighty vegan/vegetarian menu. It’s a great spot to get some work done during the day, meet a friend for coffee, or grab a beer or cider after work or before a show. I had the most scrumptious almond milk vanilla chai latte, a big yummy salad, and couldn’t resist a vegan/gluten free peanut butter cookie for dessert.
The Nile Shop is meant to be a community spot which really shows in the products and ingredients they use there. They serve coffee from a local roaster, beer and cider from local breweries, and fresh produce from local farms. The bread and pastries are baked fresh daily.
My only warning… don’t go in a hurry. It’s full of friendly people but it’s definitely a chill spot and there is no sense of urgency to get you your food and beverges quickly. We joked that they were growing the produce out back because our food took so long. But we couldn’t complain when our big, beautiful salads came out so fresh and delicious.
Now I just need to find more reasons to go to Mesa so I can sip coffee in The Nile Shop more often.
