Mermaid Smoothie Bowl

October 7, 2017

When I was little I tried to brush my hair with a fork and ran around the house singing (aka yelling) “Flippin’ your fins, you don’t get too far. Legs are required for jumping, dancing. ┬áStrolling along down a- whats that word again? Streeeeeet”!

When I was in high school I went to the salon and got horrible red Kelly Clarkson streaks in my hair and never admitted to anyone that really I felt those red streaks made me just a tiny bit closer to being Princess Ariel.

When I was in college, I dressed like a sluttly mermaid for the Halloween frat parties wearing a seashell bra and a shimmery green sarong. SMH.

And lets just say, I’ve matured a lot and only fantasize about being a mermaid every time I’m close to the Ocean now. But mermaids are and always will be the coolest most beautiful mystical creatures in my eyes. So it’s only fitting that my yummy, super healthy, Mermaid Smoothie Bowl is the first recipe I’m posting on

*makes about 2 servings

1 1/4 C cashew milk (or any other non-dairy milk)

1 C frozen pineapple

1 C frozen grapes

1 handful of fresh spinach

2 Scoops (7 grams) Spirulina

1 tsp agave nectar

shredded coconut

hemp hearts

star anise (honestly, this is just to make it pretty and mermaid-esque and doesn’t actually taste good)

Blend all ingredients together until smooth, pour smoothie mixture into bowls and top as you wish. Then take a picture because it’s so pretty and enjoy your vitamin packed treat!
