Cruelty-Free & Vegan Makeup

March 27, 2018

Beauty doesn’t have to hurt. There are so many awesome cruelty-free makeup lines that there is no reason to ever buy makeup that is tested on animals. Vegan makeup is a little harder to find, but it’s becomming more and more available as brands realize the importance of leaving animal products off our skin and on the animals they belong to.

First, let me help you understand what “vegan” and “cruelty-free” means in cosmetics:

Vegan makeup will contain no animal products or byproducts. This is important to the safety and treatment of animals as well as the cleanliness of the products we are putting on our skin. Below are some animal products you would find in cosmetics that are not vegan.

Cruelty-free products are never tested on animals. Rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, rats, and even monkeys and dogs are blinded, poisoned, tortured and killed to test products before they are used on humans. Below is some more information to help you better understand why animal testing is horrible and unnessesary.

Now, here are some of my favorite cruelty-free and vegan makeup brands/products to help you make a conscious effort to make this world a more beautiful place while also looking beautiful yourself:

All cover FX makeup is 100% cruelty-free and vegan. However, their brushes may contain some animal hair. They have so many different shades so they can match ANY skin color seamlessly. I’ve used their powder foundation and their cream concealer and love them both. Their products have great coverage and feel silky smooth and not too heavy.

Gabriel Cosmetics loves their furry friends. All their products are organic, vegan, cruelty-free, and even gluten free. It is a very simple line; great for every day use! I use their pressed Dual Powder Foundation every day and their Moisturizing Liquid Foundation when I need a little more coverage. I also love the Fairytail eyeshadow palette. They are eco concious too! You can return any 5 Gabriel makeup containers and they will recycle them and give you a free lipstick.

I love Tarte! Not only are they cruelty-free, they make very clean makeup free from many harmful chemicals. Also, many of their products are vegan. They make beautiful eyeshadow palettes and I love their Double Take Eyeliner for a dramatic cat eye. Also, they make some great vegan mascaras.

All hourglass brushes are 100% vegan and made from synthetic hair. While all their makeup is cruelty-free, it is not all vegan. However, many of their best products are totally vegan. My favorite Hourglass product is the Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light. It is a perfect glowy photo-ready finish to set over the rest of your makeup.

Arbonne has never tested on animals and recently went 100% vegan! They have also been on a green journey since 1980… way before it was cool! Props to Arbonne being a sustanable company that never sacrifices ethics for beauty and steers clear of harmful ingredients. My mom really loves all her Arbonne makeup.

Josie Maran is completely cruelty free and they have many products that are completely vegan as well. I use the Argan Tinted Moisturizer under my foundation to make it go on more smoothly. It also keeps my makeup on longer without making it look cakey.

All Jane Iredale all cruelty free and also free from harsh synthetics and parabens. Many of her best products are also vegan. I am obsessed with their Itty bitty Brow Kit and love the blush color Sheer Honey. If you are looking for VERY full coverage foundation that doesn’t clog your pores, you will love their BB cream.

The Anastasia Beverly Hills is comitted to being a completely cruelty-free company and has many stellar vegan products. TheOriginal Contour Kit changed the contour game for me. Before I discovered it, I was having trouble contouring and making it look natural. Also,
I’m yet to try her brow kits because I love my Jane Iredale one, but everyone raves about them!

Kat Von D is totally cruelty-free and most of her products are vegan. She’s in the process of making the entire line vegan. She has an amazing selection of liquid lipsticks. I’ve also heard great things about her Tattoo Liner.

All of Colour Pop’s products are cruelty-free and most are vegan; with just a few exceptions. They have some amazing products and they are all SOOO affordable. I’m obsessed with their Lippie Stix, and at only $5.50 each, you can try lots of different colors!

*Always read ingredient labels or look for these symbols to help you choose vegan and cruelty-free products:

    1. Hello ,

I’m also interested in this topic and have recently started my journey as young entrepreneur.

I’m also looking for the ways on how to promote my website. I have tried AdSense and Facebok Ads, however it is getting very expensive.
Can you recommend something what works best for you?

Would appreciate, if you can have a quick look at my website and give me an advice what I should improve:
(Recently I have added a new page about FutureNet and the way how users can make money on this social networking portal.)

I wanted to subscribe to your newsletter, but I couldn’t find it. Do you have it?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Maybe I will add link to your website on my website and you will add link to my website on your website? It will improve SEO of our websites, right? What do you think?

      Jan Zac
